With Mothers Day just behind me, I must recognize first the gratitude I have for Loved-One, Wrestler #1, Wrestler #2, CeCi, Mr. Ceci, and CoCo for the way they lavished attention on me this week. They even gave me the lawn edger I coveted. I get a lot of satisfaction out of edging the sidewalks and the flower beds. There’s something about a straight line at all the borders that just feels good.
- My own Mom. I’m so lucky to still have her, for one. The main reason I am thankful for her is all the wisdom she’s imparted, her openness to new ideas, her tough, but loving attitude, and the way she’s such a good friend to me.
- New friendships opening with people like Beth Rosen and Lisa Romeo.
- Newish friends who agreed to start a Mastermind group. I’m already feeling more accountable and our first Blab meeting is tonight.
- The recovery of my brother-in-law, Randy, who woke up one morning last week unable to move his arm. His mini-stroke, turned into more of a full-blown stroke. Already, he is home, recovering, and ready to attach physical therapy.
- The honesty of my sister, Vickie (Randy’s wife) who told everyone not to text or call while they were at the hospital. With eight siblings and a myriad of nieces and nephews, sometimes love and caring can be a bit overwhelming. Instead, Vickie kept Julie in the loop, who disseminated the information like command central.
- Balmy weather and algae-off. Yes! The frogs and croaking; the water garden is ready for summer. We do need new fish. We found Zorro the Koi beached in early March. He had a good long life that went from black with an orange mask to full orange with black spots.
- Yoga with Christine. Om!
- My flute and my new teacher. Soon I’ll be ready with “Bungle through the Jungle.”
- A flexible work schedule. Sometimes I feel like I have the structure of jello mold. At the same time, it’s wonderful to do what I want, when I want. As long as I don’t want to do too many things, which is my unfortunate tendency.
