OFOTW and NaPoWriMo Mashup

Today’s prompt:

write a poem in the form of a review. You can review either animate or inanimate things, real places or imaginary places. You can write in the style of an online review (think Yelp) or something more formal that you might find in a newspaper or magazine. (I imagine that bad reviews of past boyfriends/girlfriends might be an easy way to get into this prompt, though really, you can “review” anything in your poem, from summer reading lists for third graders to the idea of the fourth dimension).

"You're never fully dressed without a smile"

Miss G blooms, perfect in every way.
Dressed by Daddy on this picnic Day;
She burst with confidence and glee.
Tickling someone we cannot see.
Tickling and tickled, and tickled some more.
Hearts swell each time she's seen.

If everyone bathed in love like she,
We'd all burst beautiful and free.
Natural Beauty exists in grace and glory.
Cuz no matter how primped and coifed we are;
Matching and money and planning aside,
The face tells the world our story.

  1. That little face is a poem in and of itself. Lovely! Thanks for amplifying the joy in a poem.

      I know what you mean, Karen. She is filled with utter joy.

      Thank you, Rena. The picture is about 5 years old, but I love everything about it: her clothes, her shoes, and most of all the expression on her face. Her eyes are just dancing..
