Photo Friday: Bee-utiful

I really like snapping photos of insects.  I have a hard time getting honeybees to stay still long enough to get a good shot.  This neighbor’s Bee Balm had the honeybees completely intoxicated, and at the same time, industrious to a fault. I took all the photos with my iPhone5. I love how the details of the flowers and even the hairs on the bees show up in these pictures.

The bubble bees are so laid-back and gentle that I can easily pet them.  They love my Catmint in the front yard.  Here’s one from the same neighbors Echinacea.

bee-utiful - 2What’s in your lens this week?  I’d love to take a peek.  Please link-up below by clicking on the frog.

Yes, an iPhone5 (not even the latest!) I’ve been thinking about getting a new fancey-dancey camera, with all the lenses. It’s so nice to pull my phone out of my pocket and snap a few shots on the fly.

Wow, it actually looks cuddly up close. Watch out for the sting though. 😛

    Great pictures!

The honeybees will sting if they feel threatened, but I’m pretty sure the bubble bees can’t sting. Or maybe they just don’t. Thanks for the compliment Lux!

  3. I love these! Bumble bees have been my muse this summer. I don’t have a blog post with my bee pictures, so I was not sure if I could use the link-up – I do have a FB link where I posted some of my bee pics. I could watch them for hours as they roll around in the pollen.
You have given me an idea though, to feature photos as a post one day of the week. Wishing you a peace filled day!

Thanks so much for joining me, Terri. Love your bee photos. Please come back this Friday for another link-up.

  4. I love taking shots like this. It freaks my daughter out, though, because she is terrified of all manner of bees. I really, really like that last shot!

Thanks Angela. There’s something special about photographing small life. I like the last one a lot too.
