Photo Friday: Up, Up, and Away

This week I went to the Inaugural Balloon Fest in a tiny town near me.  I saw the dawn launch.  So much fun. And people were there from as far away as Brazil!

Several years ago, Loved-One got me a balloon ride for a Christmas present.  There is nothing like floating above the earth, quiet (for the most part.)  It’s a ton of work, too.  Especially for the ground-crew.

I have some lovely panorama views, too.  They’re pretty big.  If you want to take a peek, check out my Instagram (1000_Words_Worth.) or click on the button in the right side panel.

If you like these iPhone photos, hop on over to PiercedWondering.com and see how the professionals do it. Jen’s got some gorgeous photos of clouds. I think she’s as fascinated with clouds as I am.

It’s clouds illusions I recall. I really don’t know clouds, at all.

Thanks Pam. I know you have some balloon festivals in Texas.

  1. So very cool…I would love to see this. And great pics!

Thanks Renee. There are lots of balloon festivals around the country. Just Google. I bet you’ll find one near you. The first one I went to was in Battle Creek, MI. They had races, target contests, and opportunities to be balloon chasers. You would not believe how fast the crew rolls those balloons up and loads them onto trucks. Amazing.

  2. How fun is this? I love the light shining through the balloons.

It was worth getting up at 5am to drive there. Really beautiful.

  3. What a fun series of photos. I went to a balloon launch last year – it was so interesting to watch but I’m not brave enough to actually go up in one!

Oh Ruth., it’s such a beautiful experience. If I can do it, you can too.

  4. What an amazing experience and photos!
Looks like the perfect day for a balloon ride!

It was beautiful, Alison. The organizers hoped for 2,000 people a day. The got 7,000! fantastic start.
