1,000 Words Worth,  “A Christmas Carol”

Saturday Loved-One and I took the grandkids for our 16th annual Christmas outing.  A lot has changed during that time.  We went from one to 12 grandkids.  We added daughters and sons, and lost a few through divorce.  I know there will be changes in the future.  For today, I’ll celebrate our abundance.     Edit   The Merry Christas season is now officially underway.

Gratitude Monday: Making a List and Checking it Twice

Gratitude required a bit of work today.  I have so much, yet I felt blue.  For one thing, tragedy struck a local family.  Another child, a seven year-old, with brain cancer.  It doesn’t seem right for me to count how blessed I am, when his family is feeling so Job-like.  An the killings in California make me cry out in anger and in sorrow; not to mention some of the uncharitable responses.  On top of that, I’m feeling blue because I couldn’t be in two places at the same time.  And don’t even get me started on the Christmas rush.…

RAK the Advent Calendar

It’s December 1.  CoCo gave all her nieces and nephews a chocolate-filled advent calendar.  Today they will open the first little door and find a sweet surprise. I presented CoCo and Loved-One with another kind of advent calendar. A Random Acts of Kindness Calendar.   Won’t you join me? I wish I came up with the idea on my own, but I borrowed it from Coffee Cups and Crayons. Hop over to Megan’s blog for lots of great kids ideas for the holidays.  She’s even got a blank RAK calendar, if you prefer to make your own list of RAKs.  Me?…

Photo Friday Link-up # 14

A Christmas Cactus Brings some cheer. Some Christmas Caroles this time of year. And a favorite band for all to hear. Okay, of course I didn’t video WOTE’s Christmas Movie.  Still, I love how everyone is playing the guitar. How could I resist? So what’s in your lens this week?  I’d love to take a peak.

Gratitude Monday #59

A whole week passed before I got back to a blogpost.  Why? It’s the very thing for which I am most thankful this week. An Abundant Life! I’m busy writing for two newspapers, getting ready for my second favorite holiday and doing my best to focus my energy where with family and friends.  I marked my calendar with a tiny Christmas wreath on each day I have a holiday related event.  So far, December has 12 events. I have an exercise partner  who gets me back on the band-wagon and my daughter invited me to a FitBit challenge.  I am…

Photo Friday: Scavenger Engagement

I love Christmas.  This year’s pre-celebration, our New Year’s Eve pajama party was especially exciting. It started with a mad scavenger hunt.   It ended under the Christmas Tree. The promise of a new daughter and her two little sons are my special Christmas gift. I feel so lucky to witness this new beginning.
