After hours of viewing flat fields, corn turning brown and clouds of dust from bean combines, we stopped for dinner. A family owned businesss, known for cooking locally grown produce, we expected down-home American cooking. What we got was the best food EVER. I mean it. it. Contemplating Obesity

Here’s what I learned back in biochemistry:  It’s simple math. Calories consumed > calories burned = Stored fat Calories consumed < calories burned = Weight loss Calories provide fuel.  Fuel is used for every single thing the body does:  thinking, growing, watching TV, running, digesting, listening, repairing injuries, recovering from illness, even something as simple as maintaining normal body temperature requires energy. For the past 10 years, Duckie has a Halloween Party for her nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters. You know what that means. Loved One and I are her ghoulish assistance. Kitty-litter cake: spice cake, vanilla pudding, and tootsie rolls. (Someone always thinks it’s funny to let one of those tootsies dangle out of his mouth.)
